Back Stateside

That was the shortest week ever… but we’re happy to get that week off. We are now back stateside. There is a delay on our way to Tampa. We went through rough air on our way from Japan to the US. The airline automatically moved our connecting flight to a later flight. From a 1 and half hour layover in Detroit, we will be here for 5 hours. Missing everyone from back home!! We will see each other again soon. Hopefully the wait won’t be as long as the last time. For the ones that we didn’t get to see, we’re very sorry. We had very limited time. I didn’t announce my arrival since I wanted to make time for our very large family. Thank you to our family and relatives who took the time and travelled from faraway places, some by plane and some by bus. We truly appreciate you coming to see us and making it a small reunion. For other relatives who weren’t able to make it, we will do this again soon. But by then I know how we should plan it. Chris and I had a great time and wished that we could stay longer. But we had to. Now that we are back, we are already making plans of coming back. So, just don’t be surprise if you see us, or just me, back in Durian City soon, for a visit. We love you all and miss you all already. It was not an easy ride to the airport. As we got further and further away from the house, it made me very emotional. The flight from Davao to Manila was incredibly difficult. But we don’t want to be sad. We should be happy that we were able to spend time together. The beauty of technology is, we can see each other on a regular basis. So, we shouldn’t be sad. I see now that posting on facebook and my blog will help with that. I will try to post as much as I can from now on. ūüôā I will update again later.

Hello Philippines! Hello Davao!

Hello Philippines!!!
We have just arrived in the country a few days ago. ¬†I can’t believe how a few days had gone by so fast! ¬†In just a few days we are leaving and travelling back to the US.
We have been out and about spending time with family and friends. ¬†I wish I had more energy and don’t need sleep. ¬†But the real goal for this trip was to really see my mom and brothers, while spending time with family who can make it to Davao. ¬†It took us several flights just to get to Davao. ¬†By the time we got in we were just so drained. ¬† I think we slept for hours and didn’t wake up until night time. ¬†The time zone difference was a struggle since there was about a 12 hour difference. ¬† Our body thinks it should be night time while it’s bright and early in the morning. ¬†Then by night time, I find myself looking for food because my body thinks it’s breakfast time. ¬†We had to force ourselves to sleep the night before because we knew we had to be up the next day to spend more time with family and then with friends.

There was non-stop eating and non-stop chitchats with the family. ¬†I met some new nieces and nephews that I’ve never met. ¬†I saw my aunts and uncle. ¬†I also hung out with my cousins. ¬†Not everyone could make the trip to come see us. ¬†But we’re so grateful to those who could make it. ¬†They really made the time and the trip to come see us. ¬†Some flew by plane and some rode the bus. ¬†We are truly touched.

There were also so many photos!! ¬†It will be quite a struggle to upload them all since there are just too many. ¬†But I will try to upload them bit by bit. ¬†For now, it’s time to have fun here in the Philippines!

Hello Spring!

Hello Spring! ¬†Although I didn’t appreciate all the pollens you have placed on my car. ¬†Not to mention, my allergies acting up for weeks! ¬†I still welcome you, Spring Time!

I love seeing the flowers blooming.  The vibrant green leaves on every tree and bush in the garden, just so beautiful!

It’s been a year since you’ve been here. ¬†I can say that there’s a difference in the air this year. ¬†Is it because things look a lot better than my year before or the year before that? ¬† Oh Spring, were you this beautiful 2 years ago? ¬†That time, I was in recovery. ¬†That felt like a long time ago. ¬†I remember wishing how time should just fast forward to the future and let me look back in the past and say, “wow, that really happened? I really went through that?” ¬†I’m still in disbelief. ¬†But now, I can proudly say, “I’m a fighter. I survived.”

Hello Spring! ¬†Did you think I was going to be defeated? ¬†Did you not see I was meant to rise and bloom again? ¬†Now, I’m blooming like a flower after a winter chill. ¬† Yes, Spring! ¬†We meet again. ¬†I have become a warrior of teal, pink and purple with a butterfly seal on my shield. ¬†Did you not hear of my victory? ¬†You must have! ¬†It was a beautiful victory.

Hello again Spring! ¬†May this be a good Spring time. ¬†ūüôā

Sick Days Nourishment

I have been sick for a few days this past week. ¬†These are just some of my go to nourishments when I’m sick. ¬† Rehydrating myself with some gatorade and taking some egg flower soup with crab and corn. ¬† This Knorr egg flower soup / egg drop soup is very tasty. ¬†I usually go for the¬†Crab & Corn¬†flavor. ¬†It’s pretty easy to make – just add one egg! ¬†I also cooked some¬†Chicken Tinola¬†(Filipino Chicken Soup). ¬†Chicken Tinola¬†is one of my main “go-to” when I’m sick. ¬†I usually cook it with a lot of ginger too. ¬†So it’s good for the throat. ¬†I’ll take photos of Chicken Tinola the next time I make it.

The Journey Continues

I know it should say “the journey begins”, but the journey has began long time before this blog has been created.¬† I have been contemplating over¬† and over to start a blog.¬† I have started so many blogs over the years but have not been that interested to update them.

Over a decade ago, I had a blog.¬† I loved that blog. I posted so many things including the many different events that I’ve been to, places I’ve visited, the people I’ve spent time with, and most of all, the food I’ve eaten.

I’ve always been known by friends to take photos of everything, including food!¬† Yes, I’ve done that before phone cameras had a 1 megapixel resolution camera attached to it.¬† At that time, I was using my canon powershot point & shoot camera.¬† I loved that camera.¬† It was so simple and I was able to take lots of great photos of my daily life.

There were so many things to post then.¬† I was working a radio station as an on air personality.¬† I was seen hosting on different local events and have had regular listeners on the radio and also regular viewers of my blog.¬† At that time “vlogging” wasn’t a thing, but I did start posting videos on youtube as well. The videos were mostly of my dogs.

My blog at that time consisted of many different memories.¬† One day, the website that was hosting my blog had to end its services.¬† The company gave us an option to download our website / blog. But I disregarded it¬† until it was too late.¬† At that time, I didn’t really think anything of blogging as something as a career.¬† It was really more of my hobby.¬† A hobby that I have justified with myself on why I loved taking photos of everything.¬† It really made sense.¬† Why would I have these many photos and not post them.

Being on the radio before, it allowed me to be a story teller.¬† Being away from the radio for almost a decade, made me feel like I need a venue for my story telling.¬† No, I’m not a novelist or a writer.¬† I just like sharing stories of food, places and experiences that I thought would be of great help or pleasure for people viewing my blog.

Even though, I’ve long lost the blog that I’ve created more than a decade ago.¬† I thought that this new blog will be good place to restart my blogging days.¬† ¬†I don’t know if I can make up with that much lost time in the blogging world. But my life behind that was so beautiful that I couldn’t believe I didn’t get to share it.

Here’s my chance to share my stories and my world.¬† I hope that it will at least make you smile.¬† I am truly excited to start posting my photos.¬† I am kicking myself in the behind why I waited this long.¬† Oh well, no time for regrets now.¬† We just have to keep moving forward.

What you can take from this blog, is like having a glimpse of my crazy life and my crazy obsession with food, travel and my family life.

Nice to meet you and welcome to my blog.¬† ūüôā
Don’t forget to say hi!

Smile Always,
